Save My Plate (“we,” “us”) helps you capture recipes, plan meals, build shopping lists, discover new dishes, and share what you cook. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email privacy@save-my-plate.com.

Information we collect

Account information — your email address, and optionally your display name and profile photo, when you sign up with email, Google, or Apple.
Your content — the recipes you capture or create, cookbooks, meal plans, shopping lists, taste-profile answers, favorites, and any photos or videos you add.
Shared links & media — when you share a link, screenshot, or text to the app to capture a recipe, we process that content to extract the recipe.
Location — only if you allow it, your approximate location is used to suggest nearby grocery stores. You can turn this off at any time.
Usage & device data — basic app and device information used to keep the service reliable and secure.

How we use your information

To provide the core features: capturing, organizing, planning, shopping, discovery, and sharing.
To personalize your Explore feed and recommendations based on your taste profile and the recipes you save.
To find nearby stores when you ask us to.
To maintain, secure, and improve the app.

How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that operate the app on our behalf:

Google Firebase — authentication, database, and file storage.
Google Cloud (Gemini) — AI processing of shared links, text, and images to extract recipe details.
Google Places — to find nearby grocery stores when you use that feature.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.

AI processing

Recipe capture uses AI to read the link, text, or image you share and turn it into a structured recipe. Extraction is automated and may occasionally be incomplete or inaccurate — you can always review and edit a captured recipe before saving it.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual recipes and content in the app, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing privacy@save-my-plate.com.

Your choices

Turn location permission on or off in your device settings.
Edit or clear your taste profile and dietary preferences at any time.
Request access to, or deletion of, your data.

Children

Save My Plate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
